The obelisk was erected to celebrate the life of Royal Marine Robert John Little who was a local resident in the late 19th century.

PHB Director Mark Humphreys said: "It is a privilege to have been awarded this restoration contract and we will endeavour to deliver a completed project which is befitting to Mr Little’s contribution to his country.

"We hope that the restoration and the granite paving works, Greenwich Council have instructed us to undertake, will highlight the importance and the sacrifices people have made for our community and country."
